Christopher Nolan to "help out" with the development of a Superman Reboot
Since the new Batman movies completely redeemed what had become a pretty campy franchise, we’ve been hearing about new reboots for super-hero flicks all over the place. Spiderman’s doing it (sadly without Wes Anderson on board), The Hulk did it (about a week after the first one came out), and (I know this isn’t a reboot, but I want to bring it up because it’s awesome) Michel Gondry is directing Seth Rogan in The Green Hornet.
So, when they decided to reboot Superman, which “will definitely not be a follow-up to Superman Returns,” they got good ol’ Christopher Nolan to come over and help (not write or direct) breathe some new life into perhaps the most iconic superhero of all time.
[There’s also a small segment in the article this links to about a third Batman, so read up.]
I’m excited by this news, but do you guys think Superman has the same potential as Batman to be re-imagined and re-packaged?
First of all, third Batman: awesome.
I hope they really get it right this time. At the end of the day, I’ll always choose Superman over Batman. I think it’s the idealism that’s always resonated with me.
And there’s something more relatable about Supes; in so many ways Superman is just more human. He has moments of doubt, he has crises of conscience, he has human relationships. On the other hand, Bruce Wayne is an act, and Batman is just fucking nutso.
So let’s get it right this time, guys! And please, lay off the kryptonite. Kryptonite is like the kryptonite to a good Superman story.
